Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Convention Centre is pleased to announce it has been awarded with the International Association of Venue Managers’ (IAVM) 2019 Education & Service Award at the 94th annual VenueConnect Conference and Tradeshow in Chicago on July 24. The Edmonton Convention Centre is the only Canadian venue to receive this award since 2013.
The Education & Service Award is awarded annually to one individual and one venue organization that demonstrate excellence in community outreach, educational opportunities, mentorship and internships. The Edmonton Convention Centre was recognized for its staff training, development and scholarship programs; its commitment to education through ongoing community sustainability tours and partnerships with City Hall School and Junior Achievement; its mentorship and career development partnerships with Centre High School, NAIT and the Canadian Culinary Foundation; and its support of local art through the centre’s Community Art Program and pARTnership Gallery.

In 2018, the Edmonton Convention was awarded the IAVM Venue Excellence Award which recognizes the venue as one of North America’s top five performing public assembly venues. It was also recognized by Meeting Professionals International Edmonton Chapter as 2018 Venue of the Year.
